India has been really progressive in terms of technology. Every now and then, India has been launching advanced satellites for enhancing its strengths and power. The list of satellites launched by India is full with many names that made India proud for its strengths. Every year, India tries and comes up with innovative ideas of satellites. The Indian satellites and their uses were mainly to strengthen the position of the country amidst the other countries.
The year 2017 was also one of the years that marked the strength of India with its satellite launch. It was a great year as it witnessed the launch of 108 satellites within a single rocket along with launching one of the heaviest satellites in the space. There are many other accomplishments that India received in the year 2017. Let us have a look at the various names if artificial satellites launched by India.
- Cartosat 2 series: February marked the beginning of the launch of Indian satellites. Cartosat 2 weighing 714 kg was launched by ISRO along with 103 additional satellites. With this launch, India secured the top spot and moved ahead of Russia which once launched 37 satellites at one time. The total cost that was used for the successful launching of this satellite was nearly 15 million dollars. This satellite targeted the monitoring of road network, distribution of water distribution, creating land use maps, etc.
- GSLV-F09: Soon after the launch of Cartosat 2 series, India came with a much heavier satellite that weighed 2230 kg. The launch of this satellite was done from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh. Post the launch of this satellite, it was expected to improve the growth and prosperity of the people of entire South Asia. The satellite was expected to predict the weather, monitor the land and map the natural resources. The data and information provided by this satellite were also used for predicting and safeguarding the people against the various natural calamities.
- GSAT 17: In the month of July, ISRO tried launching its telecommunication satellite called GSAT 17 and was succeeded. The main focus of the satellite was to monitor the search and rescue services that can be used for growing the economy of the country. The satellite was not launched alone but it also carried certain equipment for analyzing meteorological data relay. Overall the satellite aimed to develop the telecommunication services of the country.
- IRNSS-1H: In the month of August, ISRO tried launching its satellite for regional navigation. Although complete care was taken during the launch, the launch could not be successful as the protective shield covers could not get separated from the satellite. This is the second failure that ISRO faced after the failed attempt to launch of PSLV in September 1993.

All these satellites had something or the other that worked in the favor of the country and in its progress. It is being expected that ISRO will soon launch some of the other satellites in the coming year.
